The great thing about being a part of the Edgewood PTO is you can be involved in as much or as little as you want to. We welcome everyone to get involved and participate in anyway they would like to. Listed below are the various ways that you can participate and volunteer to help the Edgewood PTO. All PTO positions work together to enrich the overall experience of students, staff and families at our school.
EXECUTIVE BOARD POSITIONS:
The Executive Board consists of two Co-Presidents, a Treasurer, a Secretary, and Vice Presidents. The Executive Board works together to create a budget for the year and vote on all spending. They also oversee all the Committee Chairs.
Overview: The Co-Presidents oversee the leadership team. Top responsibilities for the Co-Presidents are to communicate, delegate whenever possible, facilitate discussions and meetings, act as the point person on all PTO matters.
Bylaws: The Co-Presidents (or President) shall preside over all Executive Board and general meetings of the organization. They shall coordinate the work of the officers and committees; act as spokespersons for the organization within the limits set by the Executive Board and/or general membership; and shall perform other duties as may be assigned in these bylaws.
Overview: The Treasurer is the person who handles the money. The Treasurer works with the Executive Board to set a budget for the year.
Bylaws: Item 1: The Treasurer shall receive all moneys for the organization; keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures; and pay out funds in accordance with the approved budget and amendments as authorized by the organization. The Treasurer will present a financial statement at every meeting of the organization, and at other times when requested by the Executive Board. The Treasurer will make a full report at the year-end Executive Board meeting and at the September general PTO meeting.
Item 2: The Treasurer, along with the Co-Presidents, will present a budget for the following year for Executive Board approval by the year-end Executive Board meeting. The Treasurer will present the budget at the September general PTO meeting.
Item 3: The Executive Board must authorize any non-budgeted expenditures.
Item 4: In addition, the PTO shall arrange for an independent review of its financial records each year.
Item 5: The Treasurer shall be responsible for preparing all governmental financial forms.
Item 6: The Treasurer shall oversee any other committees as deemed necessary by the Executive Board.
Overview: The Secretary oversees the PTO website and takes minutes at all meetings.
Bylaws: The Secretary shall record and distribute the minutes of all general PTO meetings, along with posting them to the PTO website. The Secretary will perform other duties as designated by the Executive Board. She/He shall provide a written record of the decisions made at Executive Board meetings and will also be responsible for other necessary Executive Board correspondence. The Secretary will oversee committees assigned by the Executive Board, as needed.
Overview: Vice Presidents are members of the Executive Board who coordinate with Committee Chairs and help them with whatever is needed.
Bylaws: The Vice Presidents shall act as aides to the President(s) and shall oversee committees as assigned by the Executive Board.

A person (or group of people) who oversees the committees that plan and organize events, activities or programs.
